SIPTU’s Care Sector organises Health Care Assistants, Carers and Health Care Support Assistants (formerly Home Helps) nationally. The Sector campaigns for the professional registration and recognition of the vital role HCA’s play in the health service. Our members also campaign for national job description, appropriate workplace uniforms and opportunities for further education, training, and development.
Some recent achievements of the Care Sector include:
1) Winning significant increases for our members through the HSE Support Grade Job Evaluation Scheme.
2) Winning increasingly more beneficial contracts for our members employed as Health Care Support Assistants (formerly known as Home Helps).
3) Successfully campaigning for a full review of the Health Care Assistant role. The Sector is now focusing on campaigning for the implementation of the review
