Unions secure pay and leave arrangements for Storm Emma/Ophelia
SIPTU representatives, along with colleagues in the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, successfully concluded negotiations with HSE management over members leave and pay arrangements during the recent red alert weather events.
SIPTU Sector Organiser, Kevin Figgis, said: “There is no doubt that our members put their shoulders to the wheel during Storm Emma and Orphella. They kept frontline health services going. We made it clear to management that we would not stand over any health worker being left out of pocket for not being able to attend work, and that those workers who did make it to work should have that recognised.
The outcome of this negotiation allows for both, so that is to be welcomed.”
