SIPTU to meet HSE management concerning closure of Loretto Day Centre in Navan
SIPTU representatives will meet with HSE management early next week to discuss the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Loretto Day Centre in Navan, County Meath, which is understood to be related to the facility failing to adhere to fire regulations.
SIPTU Organiser, John McCamley, said: “SIPTU has written to HSE management citing a number of concerns around a lack of communication and information leading up to the closure of the facility.
“Our nursing and care staff members in HSE Meath Elderly Services have also raised concerns regarding the redeployment of staff from the facility and the transfer of services to other locations.”
He added: “SIPTU members have requested to know when management were made aware of the health and safety issues pertaining to this facility and what plans it has, if any, to address these problems.
“Our members also have concerns around adequate staffing levels in other day centres. SIPTU representatives will be requesting that these issues are addressed as a matter of priority. This must include the creation of a revised service plan for elderly services in the Meath area.”
