SIPTU reserves detailed response to Garda pay deal

SIPTU vice-president, Gene Mealy, has said that the union will examine the Labour Court recommendation in relation to the pay for members of the Garda Siochána.

However, he said the union will withhold any detailed response until members of the Garda associations ballot on the proposals.

“We are in the process of evaluating the Labour Court recommendation in respect of the Garda Siochána. Clearly, the recommendation presents opportunities and expectations among some public sector workers.  However, with respect to the process in which Garda are engaged, we will be making no further comment pending the outcome of their deliberations on the recommendation.”
