SIPTU representatives urge nurses and midwives to pay 2017 Annual Retention fee before 21st March

SIPTU representatives have urged all nursing and midwifery members to pay their annual retention fee to the Nurses and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) by 21st March 2017.

SIPTU Nursing and Midwifery Sector Organiser, Kevin Figgis, said: “The NMBI have informed the union that they have issued approximately 10,000 reminder notices to nurses and midwives who have yet to pay their annual retention fee for 2017.

“We would like to make members aware that the NMBI have advised, in this reminder notice, that the Board may consider removal of the names of those nurses and midwives from the Register at their meeting on 21st March 2017.”

He added: “We would encourage all nursing and midwifery members to pay the fee in advance of 21st March 2017 to avoid their possible removal from the register, which would not only have a negative impact on them personally, in terms of having to pay additional restoration fees to the NMBI, but also have a detrimental effect on the health care system.”
