Programme Summary:
This CPD programme provides participants with a comprehensive overview of safeguarding the vulnerable adult, including definitions, categories of abuse, reporting procedure and implementation of national policy.
Programme Aims:
- To raise awareness of signs of abuse of the vulnerable adult in various healthcare settings;
- To promote a consistent approach to protecting vulnerable people from abuse and neglect;
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the programme, participants should be able to:
- Develop a critical understanding of the definition of “vulnerable adult”
- Develop a critical understanding of the different types and categories of abuse of the vulnerable adult
- Develop a critical understanding of the signs of abuse in all categories
- Critically discuss the reporting structures and procedures
- Critically analyse and evaluate the “Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse” policy HSE 2014
